Artists Helen K Grant and Chris Rose met through AIM Art in Motion, a contemporary art group for people with learning disabilities in Bristol, where they discovered a shared enthusiasm for making art from scrap materials.

At SVA they will be considering how they feel about 'home' from the distanced perspective of the gallery. How has this changed post-lockdown, when our homes became places of both refuge and confinement? Helen and Chris are planning an installation that fills the entire gallery space and invite you to peek within.

AIM and SVA have also invited people from the Guideposts Community Hub to contribute artwork. The hub (based in London Road, Stroud) provides opportunities for adults with learning disabilities to make friends, develop skills, be creative, gain confidence and feel connected to their local community.

A conversation with Chris Rose and Colin Higginson from Art in Motion for the 'Home and Away' exhibition.

Art in Motion (AIM) is a not-for-profit participatory arts organisation based in Bristol, UK.

We provide opportunities for artists with learning disabilities to engage with contemporary multidisciplinary arts by exploring ideas and concepts with a specific focus on heritage, the built environment and a sense of place.
