For this month’s Jazz Sessions we host Swiss/English trumpeter/flugelist, David Mowat.
David Mowat’s love for free improvisation goes back to freeform jazz with saxophonist Mick Beck in 1980s Sheffield. Now he works with contemporary dancer Judith Jarvis programmes music at Saint Stephen’s Church in Bristol centre, plays with Simon Leach in ‘Chai For Two’ -middle eastern, klezmer and jazz- and runs the Mowat Farnon Quintet, a modern jazz ensemble. David Mowat runs BEJE Bristol European Jazz Ensemble, a stage for an outward-looking Europhile city made up of mainland European jazz musicians living in Bristol. They were awarded an ACE grant to tour with Korean musicians in UK in Jan 2019.
Join us for his set at 8.30 followed by our usual energeti-frenetic jam open to all to play, sing or listen.
