These films, made by an array of new and diverse voices, delve into the domain of the digital by exploring the influence of the internet on our lives. Virtual reality, livestreams, social media and cancel culture are just some of the prevalent subjects explored in this programme of shorts, as filmmakers experiment with digital technologies and play around with genres and forms.
Featuring films made as a part of New Creatives South West, a brand new talent development programme for artists aged 16-30 produced by Calling the Shots in partnership with BBC Arts and Arts Council England, and others made for Channel 4’s Random Acts strand by Calling the Shots in partnership with Arts Council England.
New Creatives are searching for young artists from all backgrounds to give them the chance to produce film, audio and interactive work for BBC platforms - you don’t need any experience, just an idea and the passion to develop it into a full fledged project! Come along to the screening to find out more about the scheme and hear from some of the filmmakers who’ve taken part.
This event is part of Stroud Film Festival.
