Open 11am – 5pm, The Setting Gallery at Three Storeys, GL6 0JE
The public is invited to shift their focus from the newly refurbished building and experience the space through an immersive site specific installation of sculpture, sound and video works. There is a brief moment in time when a building undergoing work is truly raw. The process of deconstructing, though messy and chaotic, reveals shadows and imprints uncovering hidden stories.
The work provokes discussion on the value of changing spaces, probing what constitutes historical merit. Once the site of Nailsworth Brewery 1820, Comrades Social Club 1918 and now Three Storeys centre for creative working, the building holds a significant role in the area.
Sheppard Fidler + Stapleford share an interest in the relationship of the human body to place, physical memories and spaces in flux. They use movement exercises, influenced by somatic practice, as a conduit for connection, stimulating their collaboration to inform the sculptures, installations and public interventions they go on to create.
This exhibition is their first public showing since they started collaborating in 2019.
