Dame Siobhan Davies and filmmaker David Hinton (Made in England) based this internationally acclaimed film on Robert Walser’s novella ‘The Walk’ (1917), constructing it entirely from early photos and footage. We follow the walker through a series of small adventures, experiencing hilarity and despair while pondering on the ceaseless variety of life. By playing with juxtapositions, speeds and split frame techniques the film explores the possibilities of ordinary, everyday movement which are central to Siobhan’s practice as dancer and choreographer.

We are honoured to host Siobhan for a Q&A.

Siobhan Davies is a renowned British dancer and choreographer - a founding member of London Contemporary Dance and founder of Siobhan Davies Studios. By 2002 Davies had moved away from the traditional theatre circuit and started making work for gallery spaces and other sites.
