Friday 25th October 8pm

Special guest Raph Clarkson is a trombonist, improviser, composer/arranger and workshop leader. He is currently involved in a variety of projects including Isaac Birituro & The Rail Abandon, a Ghana/U.K. collaboration which was released to critical acclaim. With this and other ensembles/artists including WorldService Project (thrash-jazz), Shed Seven (indie rock) and The Dualers (ska/reggae), Raph has performed at festivals and venues across the world. He has also featured on albums by - among others - Laura Jurd, Kevin Figes, Overground Collective and the South Africa-U.K. collaboration Equal Spirits, who have just released their album ‘Wise and Waiting’ on the Ubuntu Music label to critical acclaim.

Raph has been commissioned to write music and words for Sinfonia Viva (Derby, U.K.), the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Britten Sinfonia, Spitalfields Music, Engines Orchestra and Mid Wales Music Trust. He regularly leads creative workshop and participation projects for a variety of organisations in the U.K.

Listen to never-before-created live music. Come, listen and perform with friendly supportive musicians. Bring your friends, spread the word! The jam is open - all are welcome to perform.

The jam is hosted by Stroud Jazz Collective and Stroud Valleys Artspace and has been born out of the former Stroud Jazz Sessions, celebrated for over a decade in Stroud.
