London/Stroud based Mali, is a visual artist and musician performing her debut album of folk-inflected contemporary acoustic tracks. The musical production of the album has been led by Reynaldo Young, an internationally renowned performer, composer and arranger, who will also be performing in the band in October alongside Ed Anderton, Guille Hill, Fran Sanderson and Andres Ticino.
It’s the perfect chance to hear the new album tracks live - 'Out of a Flowerhead' & 'The Sea Monster's Daughter', alongside her artwork exhibited at SVA.
Mali’s visual artwork explores her personal mythology to make sense of life experiences through magical realism and symbolism. Mali would call the majority of her works semi-self- portraiture; the auric magenta figures resembling the artist, whilst maintaining an ambiguous and independent identity of her own. Connecting the self to nature is also something integral to Mali's practices as this permeates through much of the symbology.
