WEIRD SH!T : Kazuhisa Uchihashi

Saturday 15th July 7.30pm

Kazuhisa Uchihashi is a pioneering Japanese guitar and daxophone player. He is involved in a wide variety of music, but still retains a commitment to free improvisation. He was a founding member of Altered States, and was also a member of Otomo Yoshihide's Ground Zero in the 1990s.

In addition to his role as a free improviser, he has been the musical director for Osaka theatre group Ishinha, and has held improvisation workshops (a project known as New Music Action) in various cities in Japan, as well as London and Oslo. Uchihashi runs a record label, Innocent Records and is the curator of BEYOND INNOCENCE - an improvised music festival annually since 1996.
