H Plewis is the founder and artistic director of PC*DC (Posh Club Dance Club), the unruly older adult dance company based in Hackney, East London. PC*DC grew out of H’s tenure as the inaugural Landlady of The Posh Club, Hackney and her long association with the performance collective Duckie. For many years, as a solo practitioner working at the interstices of cabaret, live art and dance she explored extremes of contemporary British feminine identity, make up and emotion, using her own body as a battlefield of sexual and cultural politics. She now brings all that wild provocation to bear at PC*DC. Together with the company members she has forged a new path in the third age dance sector with a collective practice rooted in dance forms of the African Diaspora, contemporary improvisation and multilevel models of participation.
