Simon Opher MP
Simon was a GP for nearly 30 years in Dursley, Gloucestershire. Since July 2024 he has been the Labour MP for Stroud, while continuing to practise as a working GP when time allows.
Simon grew up in Oxfordshire and studied medicine at St Mary's in London. He was awarded an MBE in 2016 for his work on social prescribing (now part of NHS policy nationwide), was instrumental in the building of Dursley’s Community Hospital and headed the local Covid-19 vaccination program.
He is chair of the charity that runs Prema Arts Centre, President of Uley Cricket Club, and a very proud husband, father and grandfather.
